Want to Come Out and Play?

String Tied has a passion for playing music.  If you add up the time they’ve put in noodling around with strings, you’d have over 150 years of folk, surf, Hawaiian, rock, swing, dance, show bands, big band, jazz, country, blues and bluegrass.  What attracts them to the music is the friendship it has helped them find, the commitment to playing their best to support each other, the draw of heartfelt harmonies & melodies, and the fun of playing.  It is their goal for the joy they feel in playing to be experienced by their audiences.

Ken Amerson:  Mandolin and vocals.  Ken was born and raised in the Black Hills and recently returned from Colorado. Ken hums his day away to the rhythm of circular saws and hammers.

Allen Biesman: Guitar and vocals. Allen is another Black Hills raised bluegrasser who returned home to the hills from Colorado. Allen has experience in leaping over tall buildings. He also barks at his dog and keeps a steady beat on a computer keyboard.

Marianne Fridell: Bass and Vocals.  Marianne spent her youth following her family around, and has lived in the Black Hills for over 30 years now.  She works with migrant families, plays with babies, and is a prolific songwriter.

Hank Fridell:  Banjo and vocals.  Hank grew up on the left coast and followed Marianne to the Black Hills.  He formerly made a living teaching children to turn around three times before laying down, but recently has started taking his own advice.
